Good Morning:

First and foremost, thank you to everyone for your work to help students with the new format for learning! I know this is a challenging situation and we appreciate your willingness to help your child learn from home, while managing your own work schedule. None of us has faced a situation like this before and it can be overwhelming.  I hope everyone is doing well and I can assure you our teachers and staff wish we could all be together.

Mark Twain staff continue to reflect, adjust, and plan the best path forward with an extended school closure. Please note the following details to help you prepare:

  • 5 Day Learning Plans will be shared one week at a time.
  • 5 Day Learning Plans will be focused on key concepts in Reading and Math, designed to keep students from regressing and to keep them focused on learning.
  • Plans can always be located on the Mark Twain Website.
  • Classroom teachers will continue to reach out Monday morning, via Dojo or email, with the current plan.
    • Answer keys, when appropriate, will be shared with parents. Please use the keys to check student accuracy and/or gain understanding about how to teach a concept.

  • Due to COVID-19 concerns and equitable access to the internet and devices, we will not require any work to be returned. However, the classroom teacher may ask students to share a completed file or picture of their work. Please have your child participate if they are able. Most importantly, students need to continue to work on key skills as we look at their academic future.
  • At the elementary level, students will not receive grades for 4th Quarter.

Over the next week, our priority will be to continue to connect with each family and check in. We miss our students and care about their well-being. To this point, if you receive a phone call from an “Unknown Caller”, this may be a teacher using their personal cell phone; please consider answering.

Finally, we appreciate your patience, encouraging words, and flexibility as we make our way through this challenging time. If you have any questions or concerns, connect with us. We’d love to hear from you!  Please follow our Mark Twain Elementary Rolla FaceBook page, keep following the district guidance via our website or keep an eye out for Dojo messages and emails from teachers. You are also encouraged to Text YES to 67587 on your cell phone to keep up with communication from the District.
