Dear Mark Twain Families,

I’m incredibly excited to announce that the construction on our new Cafeteria/Storm Shelter is about to begin! Included in the project are the windows facing Salem Avenue and two additional classrooms to be placed in the footprint of the former cafeteria. We can’t wait to share these new spaces with you!

The construction will require the closure of the Salem Avenue side of the building until the project is complete. Beginning Thursday, February 19, 2026, the car rider line will enter the property off Holmes Avenue (from Salem - right turn ONLY) and circle the staff parking lot to the North entrance. Cars will exit onto Holmes, where they can turn right to proceed to Soest Road or left to return to Salem Avenue. You will not be able to exit onto LaGuille, as that will be reserved for buses only. Walkers will now exit the building at the gate near Salem and Leonard Avenue with a new dismissal time of 3:30.
